Rin

Rin is a dynamic and expressive taiko drummer from Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

In 2003, she co-founded a professional taiko ensemble in Nagoya, serving as a core
member and performing extensively throughout Japan. Since launching her solo career in
2010, Rin has brought the powerful resonance of Japanese drums to audiences around the
world — including the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States, and across Asia.

That same year, she gained widespread media attention through her appearance in Chifure
Cosmetics’ “SAVE WOMAN” commercial. In 2015, she was honored with the 14th Mie
Prefecture Cultural Award for New Artists and released her debut solo album, Rin.

Known for her commanding yet nuanced performances, Rin seamlessly blends tradition
with innovation. She has collaborated across a wide range of genres and disciplines —
performing alongside Western instruments like piano and violin, traditional Japanese
instruments such as shakuhachi and shamisen, and with orchestras, brass bands, dancers,
calligraphers, and musical theater artists.

Beyond the stage, Rin is a passionate educator and composer. She is also deeply involved
in the preservation of traditional performing arts, actively working to pass down regional
cultural expressions such as the “Hi Odori” of Kameyama City and the intangible heritage of
“Wachi Taiko” in Kyōtanba Town.
Rin currently serves as a “Suzuka Support Ambassador” and a councilor of the Suzuka City
Cultural Foundation, contributing to the cultural vitality of her hometown and beyond.
She plays a vital role in connecting tradition, culture, and community through her art and
advocacy.
